Over his varied and eclectic ten-year career, Manu Chao has fused together cultural influences from all over the world to become almost a genre unto himself, a self-professed "globalista".
To celebrate a year in which Chao’s fourth studio album La Radiolina went to number one in the European album charts, Guardian Unlimited Music is exclusively offering a free download of his track Me Llaman Calle (They Call Me Street), a song portraying the life endured by prostitutes in Madrid that won a Latin Grammy Award as Best Alternative Song. Manu is also asking readers to contribute to the charity which seeks to protect these women.
Donations are optional and the download is completely free.
