Before being a turntableist DJ Wordy played guitar for several years. He first got exposed to turntableism through hearing music that featured scratch DJs. Back then he was already fascinated by the sounds these guys were able to produce with only two turntables and a mixer. One day, he found a pirated VCD of the 2000 World DMC Championships and was mesmerized. After watching the disc several times in a row he decided to sell his guitar, amp and pedals to raise money for DJ equipment. He was only able to buy one turntable, one mixer and one record with the money he got. With this simple setup the young Chinese practiced every day for over six months. From there he started performing in clubs and practicing continually. During this period of time it was extremely hard to find vinyl in China, so every time Wordy saw a record it was like a junky looking for a fix. As his skills grew his parents recognized their son..s talent and dedication and decided to buy him his second turntable and another record. By that time he had two months to prepare for the 2004 Chinese DMC Championship, where he finished third. This made him work even harder for the next championship. In 2005 he got first place and an opportunity to go to the World finals in London, which opened his eyes to greater possibilities that exist in the world of music. In 2006 – 2007 he won the Chinese DMC Championships for the third times in a row and had another chance to represent China at the World DMC Championship. Once he came back he knew what he had to do: make his own sounds. Now DJ Wordy is a local hip hop pioneer in China. He does a great deal in educating his own people in turntableism and hip hop culture As a Club dj, Wordy play all kind of Club music, basic is orientated hip hop,also he play reggae, electronica, baltimore, drum bass, and little bit Rock. dj wordy mixing different type music together. he`s party set it`s like chef cooking a big meal for all kind of party people. Since 2003,DJ Wordy did shows all over the world,to showing that Chinese people too love and know a great deal about music. he has been to,HongKong, london, Paris, Jamaica, cologne, Würzburg, and the list will to be continue… And DJ Wordy shared stages, clubnights, with world famous DJs and Artist such as: Q-bert, Craze, D-style, ShortKut, Roc Raida, kid Koala, dj food, netik, Scratch Perverts, Hospital Records Artist, Buju Banton, Richi Spice, Beenie Man , Talib Kweli… Achieving so much in such a small amount of time DJ Wordy has proven himself to be the hope of Chinese turntableism and a role model for any upcoming Chinese DJ.
