Thebestbeachvideos

This is summer, at least in the northern part of the Globe, so everybody wants to go to the beach. If you can’t go for any stupid reason just check out our refreshing fun chart of the best beach videos! We asked APC friends and contributors to name their fave beach video and we organized them into a video playlist. Originally we had 10+1 vids, but now it’s a lot more. We are ready to add your fave beach videos as well to this massive program. All you have to do is to leave a comment! What is your fave beach related music video? We need the name of the band, the title of the song and the YouTube url of the video!
Here is what we got so far.

Band Leaks Track to BitTorrent, Blames Pirates

Buckcherry_album_artwork

Here is an interesting story about a band and evil torrent uploading pirates. Smart investigation by TorrentFreak. When BuckCherry found out that their latest single had leaked on BitTorrent, they didn’t try to cover this up, or take the file down. No, instead, they issued a press release, where they stated: “Honestly, we hate it when this s*** happens, because we want our FANS to have any new songs first.”

This is strange to say the least. Not only because their label, Atlantic Records, is known to release (and spam) tracks for free on BitTorrent sites, but also because the press release was more about promoting the band than the actual leak. Without any hard evidence, we suggested that this leak may have been set up to get some free promotion and publicity, which BuckCherry seems to need.

Out of curiosity, we decided to follow this up, to see if this was indeed the case. Hmmm read it!!

RECOGNIZE!
Hip Hop and Contemporary Portraiture

Grandmasterflashandthefuriousfive
Grandmasterflash and the Furious Five

Since its inception in the late 1970s, hip hop has become hugely influential in America. While images of hip hop performers are as pervasive in our culture as the music itself, some visual artists have created powerful images that both celebrate and explore the complexity of this creative form. The six artists and one poet whose work is included in RECOGNIZE! have approached hip hop culture through the lens of portraiture, and, in combination, their contributions highlight its vitality and beauty. Hip hop has inspired people throughout its history to use their minds
and their talent to create something larger than simply themselves.
Whether they have found expression DJ-ing, MC-ing, break-dancing, or
art-making, hip hop has given voice and visibility to a new generation. The exhibition will close on October 26, 2008.

The National Portrait Gallery is conveniently located at Eighth and F
Streets, NW, in Washington D.C., above the Gallery Place–Chinatown
Metrorail station (red, yellow, and green lines).

Museum Hours:
11:30 a.m.–7:00 p.m. daily.

Admission:   FREE
