To celebrate the Scratch Perverts Beatdown at FABRICLIVE on the 14th of November, 5 x World DMC Team Champions C2C DJs Pfel & Atom aka Beat Torrent have done an exclusive mix for FABRICLIVE  The Beat torrent show is an intense 90 minute journey through hip hop and electronica mixed with jaw dropping precision and skill, on 4 decks, by record breaking world champion DJs C2C’s DJ Pfel and DJ Atom. We once heard someone equate turntablism to masturbation, a DJ publically getting his/herself off via self-indulgent tricks and bedroom-practiced techniques. While the notion may hold strong in many situations (not to mention any names or – ahem – acronyms), there is one instance where turntablism becomes nothing short of a wild public orgy: the annual Scratch Perverts’ Beatdown.

There’s no denying a Scratch Pervert set – untamed, raucous energy coupled with mind-bogging skills and selections – nor their ability to throw a proper party themselves, equipped with their closest musical alliances and a broad camp of like-minded artists. This year’s Beatdown is arguably their biggest and baddest lineup yet, hand-picking artists that represent the diverse genres and musical styles you’re likely to find within the confines of any Scratch Perverts’ set – hip hop classics, raved-out electro bangers, drum n bass dubplates, jungle anthems and dubstep slammers.

Stepping up to rep the hip hop side of things comes a legend of the highest order, Starkey Love a.k.a. Wu member and producer Ghostface Killah. One of the most recognisable voices and beatmakers in hip hop, to trivialise Ghostface in a paragraph description here would be a disgrace. If you don’t know, you should be ashamed. You can expect a blinding (in more ways than one – ever see the bling he wore on Jay Z’s ‘Fade To Black’ tour DVD?) live performance from one of the most important and definitive hip hop icons.

Stepping alongside the Perverts on the decks comes Atlanta’s high-energy dancefloor  DJ Klever, as the scratch champion rocks his crunky low-slung bangers, introducing the sounds of the dirty dirty South to the 4/4 strut of electro. With as much personality in his sets as his appearance (colourful outfits, gold teeth, tattoos a plenty), Klever hits hard on each and every one of your senses. Also stepping up is the fast-paced electronic hip hop storm of Paris’ Beat Torrent, record breaking world champion DJs C2C’s DJ Pfel and DJ Atom.  Keep an ear out for the dancehallin’ sounds of Sheffield’s ever-blowing Toddla T and the fresh to death swagger of Jackbeats (a side project of Scratch Pervert Plus One and Mixologist Beni G), who will be going back to back with Martelo, currently on tour with Santogold and Kanye West.

Over in the drum n bass ring, Andy C leads the pack through a healthy dose of audio slaughtering with his inimitable quick-mixing and double drops, and the don Goldie is also bringing the ruckus with the latest Metalheadz dubs. On a low end obsessive tip, Room Three is packed to the big metal vents with top level dubplate wielding DJs from the balls-out bass rigging of fabric favourites Caspa and Rusko to the more thoughtful sub sonics of Hijack, who’s fresh from unleashing 12″ platters on Pinch’s Tectonic label as well as Deep Medi Music. Alongside this trio of impeccable dubstep purveyors are DMZ staples Coki and Loefah, a duo intent on bringing the atmosphere and intense electricity of the Brixton dance straight to Room Three.
