Cocoanut Groove – The End of Summer

Previously part of The Tidy-Ups and currently a member of Mattias and the Everyday Mistakes, Cocoanut Groove is Olov Antonsson's solo project, where he gets to pursue his dreams of the perfect pop tune.
And he might very well have hit the spot in his first solo single, "The End of the Summer on Bookbinder Road" which was released a while back. A track so full of Beach Boys references that half of it would be enough to make it embarrassing. Were it not for Olov's dexterous handling of the matter.
Not only does he get away with it, he excels. It's a brilliant piece of mellow, warm and sincere pop nostalgia – yet in a an ever so refreshing way.
