FRANKMUSIK is on tour, however he isn’t stuck in the back of a van or being chauffeur driven to fancy hotel (or a not so fancy hotel). Instead, Frank was dropped in a field with £20, a Blackberry and his myspace page with the aim to do 5 gigs in 10 days. The idea is for members of the public to help him on his way, provide a place to stay or a venue he can play at. To give you a flavour this is today’s posting:
“I’M SKINT – I NEED CASH FOR FOOD & TRAVEL – I WILL DO TASKS OR DARES FOR MONEY… SERIOUSLY!! GET IN TOUCH WITH ME. TELL YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY. I NEED TO BE IN NEWCASTLE IN 2 DAYS AND NEED TRAVEL AND LIVE UNTIL THEN. I’LL PLAY ANY GIG, HOUSE PARTY, BINGO HALL, WEDDING… TODAY IN THE NORTH OF ENGLAND. HIT ME BACK WITH YOUR SUGGESTIONS…. I NEED THE MONEY!! HELP!”

This post got me thinkin’ what if other, more popular, artists did the same thing? Just imagine the picture: you see a small, chain smoking wiry fifty something year old with a satchel and a Gibson SG on their back beckoning you for a lift – you stop of course because it’s AC/DC’s Angus Young! However if it was Metallica’s James Hetchfield would you speed up or swerve?! ;)
