Party Ben sayz: – After getting booked to play the VOLT Festival in Hungary, it was great to have APC come on board and help promote (as well as help get gigs in actual Budapest)! While the first of my two Hungarian-band-bastardizing tracks that I made specifically for these gigs got an, erm, mixed response when it was released here on APC a few weeks ago, I hope people like this one better. I wanted to make something with Hungarian comedy-hip-hop combo Belga, since they were also on the VOLT lineup, and when I found “Egy két há” I thought it would fit nicely over a little jump-up beat. For better or for worse, the only example of the jungly beats I had on my laptop hard drive (since I was of course making this in the hotel the first day of the festival) was the old Urban Takeover mix of “Rockafella Skank.” This is kind of ironic since I have like 4 shelves filled with drum ‘n’ bass 12″s at home, but I haven’t played them in years. Anyhoo, it turned out that two things made this track a serindipitous little item: 1) little did I know the utter dominance that breaks / drum ‘n’ bass still has over Hungarian dancefloors, and 2) little did I know how utterly filthy the lyrics to the Belga song are. Apparently the chorus is all about fellatio! Bonus! So, happy birthday, APC –: since I’m not willing to brave your hairy Hungarian crotch to give you an actual birthday blow job, consider this the next best thing. -

Phil RetroSpector – Blue ur Chance [mp3]
Panic Girl VS Morcheeba VS Billy Idol

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Phil RetroSpector sayz: – For APC’s second Birthday, I knew straight away I wanted to toy around with something from APC’s sonic femme, Panic Girl. Take a Chance really pricked up my ears when I first heard it, it reminded me of Alison Shaw from Cranes doin’ a Spaghetti Western theme. Panic Girl was kind enough to let me butcher her track, strip it back and sprinkle a little stardust from Morcheeba and Billy Idol all over it. Blue ur Chance is the result…  SI, congrats on APC’s second b’day kimosabi! -
