#09 Fissunix – Bad Gloria [link]
#10 Fissunix – Uprising without me [link]
Copycat’s Top 10
#01 Rick Astley – Never gonna give you up (Drop out orchestra Dub) [link]
A simply amazing crazy dub take on Rick’s main claim to fame by the insanely talented Drop Out Orchestra from Sweden. Classic!
#02 Alex Clare – Up All Night [link]
Flabbergasted by this Diplo and Switch infused banger from Alex. Surprise of the month!
#03 Robyn – Indestructible (A-Trak radio edit) [link]
Modern electro flirt on 70s classic disco. Hardly surprising the best Indestructible remix would come from A-Trak.
#04 White Town – Cut Out My Heart [link]
Reads like an upgraded electro poppy Persuaders’ theme. Brilliant!
#05 Ladytron – Ace Of Hz [link]
Epic and excellent electro pop saga by faves Ladytron. Really good – even by their standards.
#06 BODi BiLL – One Or Two Ghosts (Phon.o Remix) [link]
Another major surprise for me. Low key melancholy through a haunting minimal electro drama.
#07 The Good Natured – Be My Animal [link]
Not at all the Kate Bush wannabe I had her down for, megastar in the making.
#08 Florrie – Introduction EP [link]
This year’s Little Boots. All that, and gorgeous. Love both “Left too late” and “Give me your love”. Especially the former.
#09 Duffy – Well Well Well (DJ Prince House Remix) [link]
Amazing re-work by Norwegian Dj Prince. A 90s smelling house take that’ll knock you out.
#10 Active Child – I’m In Your Church At Night [link]
Angelic, yet weird, chilly, haunting. Dope!
Mashups of the month:
#01 Mighty Mike – Waiting in Heaven [link]
This month’s outstanding mash-up. One of the best this year, in fact.
#02 Amoraboy – Feel the Joker [link]
Apart from a few challenging passages, or rather phrases, this Steve Miller vs Robbie Williams job is simply stunning.
#03 Flying White Dots – Hold On For Your Lives [link]
Class choice of sources. And a class combo. A nice surprise from our good friend FWD.
#04 Colatron – Someone’s Missing [link]
Haunting, hurting and aching little lament. Lovely.
Dunproofin’s TOP 10
#01 Shit Robot – Take ‘Em Up [link]
Standout track from Shit Robot’s Debut “From The Cradle To The Rave” album, featuring one Nancy Wang from LCD Soundsystem … pure pop.
#02 Klaxons – Twin Flames [link]
Totally NSFW but perhaps the best video of the yearm, although Klaxons have struggle to find their feet musically this year, visually they streak ahead.
#03 !!! – Jamie, My Intentions Are Bass [link]
Hammered on BBC Radio 6 in the UK and deservedly so, as !!! hit with one of their tightest grooves yet – about time they have a breakthrough hit.
#04 Holy Fuck – Red Lights [link]
APC are late on this apparently … which is great as it means it can sneak into the November charts. Never has a band name been more accurate.
#05 Robyn – Indestructible (A-Trak Radio Remix) [link]
Indestructible – more like unstoppable. Topping off what has been a phenomenal year for Robyn with some hi-energy disco.
#06 Jay-Z – 99 Problems (The Prodigy Remix) [link]
Not altogether convinced it betters the raw power of the original Jay-Z version, but good to see there’s life in Essex’s finest still.
#07 Found Sound Orchestra – Christmas Midgets [link]
Former known as Team 9, the Found Sound Orchestra bring out a seasonal collection that despite the name, manages to tower high above many others.
#08 N*E*R*D – Hypnotize-U [link]
Hooking up Pharrel & Daft Punk was never going to fail really – although Prince should check to see his mojo hasn’t been stolen.
#09 El Guincho – Bombay [link]
Passed me by completely when first featured on APC, but the surreal video adds the missing link for this summer sounding piece of sublime electronica – great for these winter nights.
#10 The Beatles – Come Together (A-Skillz Remix) [link]
You know whenever you see an A-Skillz bootleg you’re on to a winner. Despite there being too much Beatles around this month, this track is a certified banger.
#11 Simian Mobile Disco – Sweetbread [link]
Taken from SMD’s forthcoming “Delacies” long player, repeated listening rewards as the duo go for a more underground sound. Not one for vegetarians.
#12 Digitalism – Blitz [link]
I missed last month’s chart, so this one sneaks back in by virtue of the video. Restless for the album now guys ….
#13 Freestylers – Say Yes (Raw As Fuck Mix) [link]
Featuring what sounds suspiciously like an old Salsoul sample or two … the Freestylers crank out another breakbeat monster. Exactly as you would expect a Freestylers track to sound like, even in this remixed form.
#14 Duffy – Well Well Well (DJ Prince Remix) [link]
A funky house remix that has large samples also used by sometime Altern8 alter ego Slo-Moshun on “Bells Of NY”: please go and track it down.
