The police hold a press conference about the event, where the Hungarian Minister of the Interior announced the followings:
- the club had no licence for making big events like this
- there was no murder, the victims been drowed and crushed to death in the crowd panic at the narrow stairway
- only 10 (!!) security guards were at the club
- there is no exact crowd number, 3000+ for sure, but many people been pushed inside without tickets at the gate
- 5 people been arrested, the organizers and the club owners
Let’s hope every party organizer and club owner will learn from this.
That is HORRIBLE news…. my hearts go out to all of the affected families… unfortunately things similar to this happen all over the world -I believe that authorities and more importantly some venue owners do not understand the direct correlation between music and life… DJ’s and artists are not JUST commerce… we don’t just draw MONEY! We provide a necessary outlet for people… just like EVERY OTHER ARTFORM… I’m a native New Yorker… so I’ve seen the headlines over the years (Happyland – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Happy_Land_fire, etc.) and have lost a good friend who was a bouncer, due to the non understanding of social behavior… I’m sad…
