SellaBand, which reinvents the record label model by letting listeners discover and invest in bands, has replicated another aspect of the traditional music industry by allowing filmmakers and advertisers to license SellaBand-created music for their projects through a partnership with YouLicense.com.
"SellaBand gives up and coming artists the opportunity to professionally produce their music," stated YouLicense CEO Maor Ezer, "and YouLicense.com makes it easy for artists to do business."
So far, SellaBand’s system has resulted in the creation of 24 albums, some of which could find wider exposure as a result of the deal. SellaBand music director Dagmar Heijmans pointed out that advertisements have become a platform through which fans discover music (just ask any band whose music has been used in an iTunes commercial). "Working with YouLicense.com will enable our artists to promote their music to a wider audience," he said. "As SellaBand enters into its third year of business, we are looking for ways to evolve and get our artists’ music heard." [read more @ Listening Post]

Last time we were not really amazed by Pharell’s collaboration with Madonna. This issue is totally different. My Drive Thru might be a Converse commercial, but rock big time. These paper figure animations are really wicked and the music is just ACE. Plus one karma point for Pharrel for this.

The new TV ad for the Ford Focus which features musical instruments made from parts of the car. All the music was made by the car parts!
The European Ford Focus is a big reason that Ford sells more vehicles in the UK than any other automaker, so you’ll have to forgive the Blue Oval if it goes overboard in marketing one of its biggest stars. You may remember a Lexus campaign that used the sound systems from 12 Lexus LS 460s to create a virtual orchestra, but Ford has taken the musical theme a big step forward. Composer Craig Richey, sound designer Bill Milbrodt, and friends used a five-door Focus fresh from the factory floor, took it apart, then used the car’s many parts to create 31 musical instruments. We’re not talking flutes and trombones here, folks. The musical maestros used Focus parts to create such original works as a Rear Suspension Spike Fiddle and Door Harp. Ford will then hand over the Motorcraft-edition instruments to a full-blown orchestra to lay the sound track for the next Focus commercial.
