This charity project revives a timeless childhood pursuit, guided by artists including MGMT, Stars, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Iron & Wine. The Indie Rock Coloring Book is an offering from the Yellow Bird Project, a Canadian nonprofit that sells musician-designed t-shirts, with proceeds going to the artists’ favorite charities. The book features work by illustrator Andy J. Miller, inspired by bands supporting the project. It even includes other activity-book staples, such as a maze and connect-the-dots.
Enter Flavorpill’s contest to win a Yellow Bird prize pack, learn more about the Yellow Bird Project, download its official theme song, view more of Miller’s illustrations, browse the t-shirts, and buy the book.

On 12 February 2009, 100+ cities around the world will be hosting
Twestivals bringing together local Twitter communities for an evening
of fun as well as raising money and awareness for Charity: water. Twestival.fm is a global online music project in association with Twestival aiming to raise an additional $20,000 for charity.
They're now looking for artists, musicians and labels using Twitter
who would like to give something back to the community and donate a
track. You’ll be helping raise money for a good cause and promoting
your music to an audience of tens of thousands. They also expect
international press attention and plenty of buzz in the Twitterverse.
All donated tracks will be made available to stream and download for free via the Twestival.fm player (powered by SoundCloud ).
The player will be available to the general public from 5th to 19th
February. Visitors to the Twestival.fm site are asked to leave a
voluntary donation or ‘tip’ (using Tipjoy) in a Radiohead-style ‘pay what you want’ manner. All tips will be given in full to Charity:Water and the most generous tippers listed on the site.

Imagine this, through the use of digital technology, John Lennon urges us to support a campaign by "One Laptop per
Child" to deliver tough, solar-powered XO Laptops to the world’s poorest children.
"Imagine every child no matter where in the world they were could
access a universe of knowledge. They would have a chance to learn, to
dream, to achieve anything they want," a voice and video image of
Lennon has been created to say.
"I tried to do it through my music, but now you can do it in a very
different way. You can give a child a laptop and more than imagine, you
can change the world," says the musician in a play on one his best
known songs — 1971’s "Imagine ."

Proof that the subject of the famous Beatles song really existed is to be auctioned for charity
For years, Paul McCartney maintained that the song was based on an entirely fictional character. Now it transpires that McCartney knew more about the real Eleanor Rigby than he led us to believe.
McCartney donated a hospital accounts log from Liverpool’s City Hospital to the Sunbeam Trust charity, which revealed that an E. Rigby was a scullery maid who worked at the hospital.
The non-dated document is thought to be the only known signature of Rigby’s in existence.
The lot is due be auctioned by the Fame Bureau at London’s Idea Generation Gallery on November 27, alongside Sid Vicious’s rabbit padlock chain and Dee Dee Ramone’s guitar.

Just Amy Winehouse, a guitar, and a few scraps of duct tape. Soul-singing Amy stripped down her birthday suit in a bid to raise awareness about breast cancer among young women in the new issue of Britain’s Easy Living. Actress Helena Bonham Carter and “Smooth Operator” singer Sade are also featured in the campaign. via popcrunch
