Wieden + Kennedy London and electro-funk outfit Chromeo have released
the world’s first musical SatNav voice for Nokia, and consequently the
world’s shortest album.

Last year, Wieden+Kennedy developed Own Voice, a new product feature
for Nokia’s SatNav service that lets people record friends and family
to be the guiding voice on their SatNav.

To encourage more people to record their own, Wieden + Kennedy
enlisted Chromeo to use the Own Voice app to record a mini-album
called Drive Time. There are 55 tracks featuring songs such as ‘Turn
Left’ and ‘Enter The Motorway,’ complete with Chromeo’s signature
Vocoder effects and synth styling.

The electro-funkiest pairing on the planet Chromeo are breaking records with their new record, Drive Time. Touted as the world’s smallest album, it clocks in at 183 seconds, shattering the previous record by an eternity. Inspiration for this concept album came from Chromeo’s desire to pinpoint and extract the soul of their music. “People make such a big deal about the White Album because it was so long,” explains Dave 1. “We just went to the essence.” The result is a microcosm of Chromeo’s signature sound. A whopping 55 tracks in 3 minutes. All killer. No time for filler.
