Ableton has teamed up with SoundCloud and collaborated with some of our favorite artists for this very special contest. A free Live Pack featuring sounds from atmospheric pop titan M83, indie electronic stars Junior Boys, and LA beatmaker Nosaj Thing is available to all Live users from May 14th through May 28th. Use these loops, stems and presets to create a new, original track.

One catch: you only have 24 hours to create and submit your work.

The countdown starts with your download. Get your creative juices flowing and show us what you can do in just one day. After all entries have been submitted, the SoundCloud community and the artists themselves will choose the best tracks. Prizes include a trip to Berlin, Ableton Suite with free upgrades for life, five years of a SoundCloud Pro Plus account and more.

As you might remember, La Belle Records and APC threw a little contest the other week. Your task was to name the “belle” you were thinking of when you heard Rodion & Khan’s new single “Discoteca Romana”.

We’re happy to announce the winner today: Alice from Oceanic Mood. Her “belle” and answer? “Antonella Ruggerio, mostly known for her co-lab with italo-disco pioneers Matia Bazar and the wonderful mega-hit “Ti sento”. With a small addition of Kaoma (of Lambada fame) – all with a Kraftwerk filter!”

Röyksopp have partnered with Genero.tv for a music video competition featuring all 9 tracks from their new album, Senior. You choose the track, make your video and upload it to the site. They’ll choose a winner for each track with an overall winner from that shortlist of nine videos. The overall winner will receive $3,000 whilst the rest of the shortlist will each receive $1,000. Overwhelmed by the stunning response to the remix contest for Kavinsky’s Nightcall, Record Makers have decided to take things one step further and allow graphic designers and illustrators to contribute their interpretations of Kavinsky’s zombie universe. Kavinsky is currently putting the finishing touches to his album, due to see the light in 2011. The visuals hold as much weight as the music, an aesthetic commitment that has been in place since he announced his arrival, back from the dead, with Testarossa Autodrive. Inspirational for many of his contemporaries, whether that be hot-shot electro producers or superstars like Madonna and Kanye West, who enlisted directors Jonas & Francois for their music videos after the explosive impact of Testarossa.

The Kavinsky Fan Art contest will run from October 29th to December 31st. 50 illustrations will be chosen from the entrants and included in a limited edition book. The winning design will take pride of place on the front cover. The first 20 illustrations will get a copy of the book, whilst every winning illustrator will receive music digitally.
