Giorgio Moroder – E=MC2 (Phil RetroSpector Mix) [Buy link Juno]
Phil RetroSpector is an audio-visual artist. He mixes emotion rather than beats, stretching the very fabric of popular music (from Hi-Brow to Lo-Fi), to new and exciting contextual arenas. He has officially remixed the likes of Billie Ray Martin, The Young Punx and now Giorgio Moroder and produced audio-visual material for Absolut Art. Right now, Phil’s working on an EP of original material.
“So far, it’s all stripped back and moody” says Phil “but it’s still evolving as we speak. I’m also putting together a new audio-visual set for live performance and currently testing out a new interface to see if it’s up to the job.” Watch this space, folks…
Our little interview with Phil continues after the jump and we give you the weird ‘n wonderful video of his remix as well, made by the man himself!

Giorgio Moroder – E=MC2 (+VAT Relativity Mix) [Buy on Juno]
+VAT might be a new act in theory, but behind the alias you’ll find APC founder Simon Iddol and his good friend mango. Simon’s got a track record that would keep both me and you busy until next weeek. In the past he’s been a TV-show host, DJ, producer, designer and what not. But since his reincarnation as Simon Iddol, you’re probably most familiar with his relentless exploration of the musical mash-up culture, which he’s been not only curating but also promoting extensively the past few years. Not least here on AudioPorn Central.
mango is one of the founding members of the legendary rap posse Gimmeshot, one of the most popular DJs of Hungary and he also makes his wobbly glitchy originals as modul. +VAT is their commom remix/ DJ project and they just made a remix for for APC’s Digital Cuvée project as well as played several festival and club gigs (with Glitch Mob for example). Put simply, it’s the ultimate super group – or duo, at least.
Take the jump and check out our interview with the boys!

Giorgio Moroder – E=MC2 (Dunproofin‘ Refix) [Buy link Juno]
Next in line in our remix series is APC regular Dunproofin‘ from Aberdeen, Scotland.
Dun’s been living around the edges of the music business for over two decades, starting as a drummer, progressing as a DJ and now working as a Producer. His production work has seen him working with the teams behind DJ Hero, and officially remixing the likes of Billie Ray Martin, The Anomalies, Streetlab,The Young Punx, and now Giorgio Moroder.
If you’re a follower of APC, we’re sure you’ve stumbled across some of Dun’s creative bootlegs and mashups too. He’s got a huge back catalouge of of them on his site, all of which can be downloaded. What you possibly don’t know, is that he also has a handful of very impressive covers up there too. The most recent one being a stellar version of OMD‘s classic “Messages”. Head over and have a listen, will you – or check out his SoundCloud for more.
But before you do that, take the jump and read what Dun’ has to say about the Giorgio Moroder project.

Giorgio Moroder – E=MC2 (Divide & Kreate Remix) [Buy link Juno]
If you’re a regular here at APC, we’re quite sure you’re down with who Divide & Kreate is and what he does. But just to make sure, let’s hook you up with a few facts.
Sweden’s Divide & Kreate stems from the bootlegging scene, where his mash-up skills are next to legendary. He specializes in the biggest chart hits and mashes them into oblivion, more often than not with a total breakneck genre-clash that leaves you flabbergasted. He’s been featured on the hottest blogs and coolest dailys all over the world and has become a staple on radio stations from every corner of the world.
The past few years however, D&K has widened his scope and has been producing some amazing electro remixes. His take on Giorgio Moroder’s “E=MC2″ follows a distinct D&K formula and is nothing but breathtaking. In fact, we’re not the only ones to nurture that opinion. This remix is in fact in Beatport’s “10 Must Hear Indie Dance Tracks” chart this week! Bravo!
Currently, D&K is working on a few remixes that – “Hopefully” he says – will see the light of day very soon! “The sound is very 80′s, really love the music from that decade…”.

Giorgio Moroder – E=MC2 (A Copycat Remix) [Buy link Juno]
Next up in our Giorgio Moroder series is Sweden’s own Copycat and his interpretation of “E=MC2″. “I kinda wanted to take Giorgio’s tune back a few years. More to his mid-seventies, which were his golden years, in my opinion. At the same time, I wanted to present him in a fresh and modern way. All this without losing myself in it, keeping a Copycat vibe. I’m very happy with the result and this track now accompanies me on all my meandering night drives…”.
Apart from contributing to APC on a regular basis, Copycat keeps busy producing his own music and remixing various artists. Some of his most popular productions include remixes of Robyn, Lana del Rey, Billie Ray Martin, John Legend, Lena Katina (TATU), and many more. Recently he’s been working with the MB Disco label on a wide number of projects, including his own material. A handful of remixes are awaiting release – and several new ones are in the pipeline.
Lately, several Copycat originals have gained a lot of attention as well. We all remember his tune with lovely Josephine, “The Darkest Side of Me“, from a while back, and his co-lab with Bergman on the beautiful sundrenched “Sometimes“. The most recent one is his slo-mo disco shuffler “Disco Thang“, which was featured on everything from Beatport to Juno and jumped to the very top of several charts, including a #1 on Traxsource Essential 20 and a #5 on Burn Top 10. And with two stunning “Disco Thang” remixes from mega hot producers Lou Teti and Ajello, it is safe to say that our cat is on to something.
