yeah, I’ve posted this on Instant Joy yesterday
but I’ve realized that this is totally music related as well
cos we always loved to support Icelandic music
so many APC faves are coming from that lovely island
FM Belfast, Steed Lord, Gus Gus, Hjaltalin, Bang Gang
and of course the queen of Iceland, Emiliana Torrini
it was so cool and inspiring to get involved with Icelandic music last year
and I can’t wait to see them again
Inspired by Iceland is a brilliant way to promote the country
which is a must see for all of us
here is my attempt to make you visit Iceland (and Hungary)

Crookers and Steed Lord teamed up for Transilvania
the 9th episode of The Weird Girls Project
The Weird Girls of Reykjavík is a collective created and headed by concept artist Kitty Von-Sometime. It evolves episode by episode and the members mix between those involved from the beginning and new members increasing with every event. The ages range from 18 to 34 years and the girls all live in or have close connections with Iceland.
Each episode is planned by Kitty for approximately three months with the members knowing as little as is possible about the event outside of the date. This includes the location and the costumes. As standard there will be a photo shoot and they are aware they will be filmed. The main element of the project is ‘reaction to the unknown’.
This episode produced a commissioned video for Crookers. The majority of the filming took place in and on Höfðatorg – Iceland’s tallest building. The Icelandic winter proved both stunning and a challenge – the temperature dropped below minus twelve but the elongated golden sunset and sunrise threw every colour possible into the sky.
Music from the Moon is an intercultural music and puppet show for children. In 2006, the Hypno Theatre travelled to Iceland and remote locations in Greenland to perform their show. The film accompanies the group on their journey through Arctic landscapes. Look forward to exceptional concerts and personal moments with Emilíana Torrini, Benni Hemm Hemm, Dagur Kári and other stars of the Icelandic and Greenlandic music scenes and learn about the Nordic attitude towards music and creativity.
Featuring: Emilíana Torrini, Benni Hemm Hemm, Members of Sigur Rós, Members of Múm, Eiríkur Orri, Helmus und Dalli, Hildur Ingveldardóttir Guðnadóttir, Dagur Kári, Slowblow, Ole Kristiansen, Naneruaq, Hypno Theatre, Hjörleifur Jónsson, Magdalena Mayas, Jan Terstegen, Ravi Srinivasan, Frances Jane Ball, Mandy Burton, …

To mark the 10th anniversary of the Icelandic release of Sigur Ros‘
breakthrough album Agaetis Byrjun, Sigur Ros have made available
two exclusive live performances from the original launch party
concert at the Icelandic Opera House on the night of June 10, 1999 -
back when few people outside Reykjavik hadn’t the foggiest clue who
they were. Nyja Lagid video – filmed originally for Icelandic TV and unseen
for years, this shows the boys when they really were still boys,
performing a song that never made it onto Agaetis Byrjun (or any
subsequent album) and disappeared from their set-list shortly after
this date. The film also records the last show by original drummer
Gusti. The audio of this live recording was featured on Sigur Ros’s
first ex-Iceland release, the Svefn-G-Englar EP.
