So, let’s have a chat with MB DISCO label boss, Martin Brodin, also the founder of Deeplay Music. With this label he wanted to go back to his Disco roots. Disco Music has always been in Martin’s blood and some 18 months ago he felt it was time to pay tribute to it. So how has he done it? The answer is very simple, mix up the old disco feeling with modern sound. Call it Nu-Disco, Post-Disco, Disco for 2010s or whatever you see fit, for Martin it’s just about the feeling for what he believes is Disco.

- The Italian Connection – tell us, how did you come up with the idea?
It all started with Michael Suiter, one part of L.I.S. sent me a remix they done of E=MC2 some time ago. I simply fell in love with it and one thing lead to the other. His friend in Italy Gianluca Pandullo (I-Robots), is well connected to all the old disco heads there so he started to check if they’re interested in participating in the project. Said and done, everyone jumped on it. So initially we called it the Italian Connection as a project name, but we liked it so much so it became the official name for it.

Check out the rest of the interview – after the jump!

Dadahack – TAP3 [buy device and album]

Delivering a fantastic and innovative electronic album coupled with a fantastic and innovative product concept is no easy feat. What began a couple of summers ago in a hut in rainy Småland, and has taken two and a half years of visits, ftping, ichatting, creation, distruction and debate to whittle down the possible 27 tracks to the chosen seven of their album TAP3, has finally been completed.  We caught up with the duo, Dadahack, to talk about future music aspirations and their amazing new concept album, TAP3. Listen the teaser mix via the player above while you’re reading this ;)

What would you call your music?
Post-tech neo-urban stargaze.

How would you describe the direction of the act?
We’re looking eastwards – both metaphorically and physically. I will be relocating to Hong Kong this summer and look to be inspired by the ever changing and expanding world of the region, its past, and its 21st century future. Being on two continents and distant time zones will help the flow of ideas no doubt.

You’ve both been producing for some time, is now the first time you’ve collaborated?
We’ve swapped technical ideas, advice and skills for many years, but dadahack is the first musical collaboration we’ve entered into together.

Based in separate countries, how do ideas get born and how do they evolve into finished tracks?
Many of the tracks began their life during a couple of visits I made to Pete’s studio in Stockholm. Apart from Burnt Fox, these embrionic start points are pretty much unrecognisable in their present form. The music evolved over a couple of years – this is both experimental and necessary, as our day jobs (working for other musicians / producers / directors) demand that we create music and sounds very quickly. Being in dadahack allows us to expand our ideas and productions as far as we can allow ourselves.

Tell us about the TAP3 device and the thinking behind it?
We’re both inspired by beautiful or intriguing physical products and felt that we’d like to present our music in a particular and unique way. We have a fond idea and memory of cassettes, but also consume music in a very modern way. We feel that the TAP3 device offers a glimpse into the past and future at the same time, in the same way that electronic music harks back to the early pioneers and experimenters while constantly pushing new technologies to their unnatural limits.

What is it that you are trying to achieve with this release?
Create awareness of dadahack, our music and style. Sell some TAP3 devices. Give away (and possibly sell) some music, and move into the live/dj world. Collaborations and guest productions would be great. Various other clichés included of course…

What’s next?
Apparatjik remix, ambient version of the TAP3 album, R.Fm DJ mix. TAP3.1
