Bad Lieutenant is not only a brilliant little flick with the ingenious Harvey Keitel. It’s also the name of Bernard Summer’s – yes, New Order – new band. Well, not really new, they formed in 2007, but alongside Phil Cunningham (guitar) and Jake Evans (guitar and vocals), Bernie’s just a few weeks short of releasing the Lieutenant’s long awaited debut album. Never cry another tear (Oct 12). Guest musicians include Alex James (Blur) and Stephen Morris (New Order and Joy Division).
Allegedly, we’ll be treated to some “crisp, streamlined, 21st century guitar music – underscored by keyboards and occasional melodica”. Sounds like music to my ears… Really good music, in fact. Just like their first single, Sink or swim. Lovely Monday, indeed…

Get Physical‘s new compilation series Final Song created so much debate they decided to launch a competition asking you to send in what your final song would be and why. Tracks were submitted via the audio hosting online site SoundCloud and the winners were selected last week.
