Stanton Uberstand and likes are probably the most useful tools for laptop DJ’s
it’s not a new product, but they deserve every support
this great article on djtechtools opened up my eyes

I think to use a stand like this can solve my space problems in tight DJ booths
it holds a laptop plus a soundcard and makes room for your controller
it’s also super lightweight and folds flat to fit in an included 12″ zippered bag

laptop_orchestra is an interactive synaesthetic instrument, designed for performances of audio visual compositions in real time.

The space conformation of the fifteen laptops, arranged on regular rows, brings back to the formation of an orchestral group.

On each one of them is installed a Software consisting in algorithms which activate sounds and abstract visual shapes based on color spectrum. Each laptop has its own sound and its own instructions for the construction of a shape.

Imagine this, through the use of digital technology, John Lennon urges us to support a campaign by "One Laptop per
Child" to deliver tough, solar-powered XO Laptops to the world’s poorest children.

dream, to achieve anything they want," a voice and video image of
Lennon has been created to say. 

"I tried to do it through my music, but now you can do it in a very

i -sleep , a comfortable soft pillow can be attached on the top of each laptop and functions like a rescue west in an airplane – with the difference…it really saves us. If we tend to fall asleep, we just close our laptop, a pillow gets filled with warm air, music is being played and after 10 minutes the alarm clock rings. Bonne nuit!

Last December, a friend and I went to a release party for Mary J. Blige’s “Growing Pains” album. Near huge screens showing Blige videos, a d.j. was playing records on two turntables. The d.j.’s eyes, however, were trained on an Apple MacBook on a shelf above them. As a succession of Blige songs faded from one into the next, the d.j. never changed the records. My friend asked, “Is there a new Mary medley I don’t know about?”

The answer was no. The d.j., like many today, was using a program called Serato Scratch Live, which uses a turntable as a knob or a switch. Signals from a special Serato record being manipulated are fed into a box connected to a laptop. Serato translates the resulting signals, allowing the d.j. to cue and cross-fade digital audio files with the turntables. Why use a turntable at all? It’s still an efficient, familiar interface that, for blending songs, works better than a mouse. It’s also a visual indication that the d.j. is doing something with, and to, the music being heard.
