This amazing animated music video pays homage to the 1985 Tobe Hooper sci-fi/horror movie Lifeforce and features cartoon depictions of Slipknot, Metallica, Ozzy and Michael Jackson. The video is for the Budapest, Hungary metalcore band Blind Myself and was created by 32-year-old Hungarian cartoonist Balázs Gróf. Here is the awesome clip, which took Gróf over a year to complete. A Beastie Boy is Doing Something. Oscilloscope Laboratories, the film production company of the Beastie Boys’ Adam Yauch, just picked up the US rights to Youssou Ndour: I Bring What I Love,
the trailer for which you can watch above. Chai Vasarhelyi, the
director, followed the Senegalese star for two years, documenting not
just his life as a musician but also his role as both critic and

Winner of three French Academy Awards, Le Bal is set inside an art deco ballroom, and presents a fifty-year span of contemporary history solely through music and dance, with absolutely no dialogue. The soundtrack features the music of such composers as Frederick Chopin, Irving Berlin, John Lennon, and Paul McCartney. Directed by Ettore Scola.

Moog [DVD + soundtrack Amazon]

This is not brand new but you MUST check out if you haven’t heard about this yet!! This is a film about Bob Moog.

Bob Moog (1934-2005) invented and built electronic musical instruments
for over half a century. From his workshops in upstate New York and
later in rural North Carolina, Moog shaped musical culture with some of
the most inspiring instruments ever created. Moog explains that he "can feel what’s going on in a piece of electronic equipment… it’s something between discovering and witnessing." And he is convinced that many musicians come to "feel" a circuit in a similar way. "They make contact."
In fact, musicians make such strong emotional connections with the
electronics inside a Moog synthesizer that Moog himself has reached
cult hero status. Moog not only made prodigious
contributions to modern music and culture, but he became a character
within an unfolding "American maverick inventor" mythology. Moog
certainly walked and talked the "mad scientist" part, complete with the
fly-away white hair, intense eyes, eccentric mannerisms and a head full
of stories.
