Harvard Business School’s Felix Oberholzer-Gee and his UNC colleague Koleman Strumpf showed that downloads of digital music files have no ill effect on CD sales. Their findings were a surprise to the music industry – and to themselves.

Popkomm is one of the most important music expos, no doubt about that
in 2008, 843 exhibitors from 52 countries took part in Popkomm
which attracted more than 14,000 trade visitors
like major and independent labels, publishers, concert organizers etc
but because of continuing difficulties within the industry
the Popkomm organizers has decided to postpone the expo for one year
sad

the music industry doesn’t need pirates and crisis to die
it can pretty much kill itself
obviously the best strategy to fight agains the lack of income
to sue teenagers, ban people’s internet account
and I’m sure you know more stories
it’s an old record
why am I coming up with this now?
because of the blog post of Justin Kniest the CEO, Fabchannel.com
about the reasons behind stopping Fabchannel
and this is so typical the same story again
how to kill and not use something good and popular
go and read the post it is interesting
it won’t make you happy, but hey
let’s think like this
we just getting into the ice age
and all those bad thinking labels are the dinos
I hope we don’t have to wait few milion years to see the results

We all have our own stories about the music industry ;) The guys of the Blender just collected the 20 Biggest Record Company Screw-Ups of All Time. From turning down the Beatles to stomping Napster— the most ill-advised, foolhardy and downright idiotic decisions ever.
It’s supposed to be fun this time or not???
Somehow our smile and happiness is not honest and clear.
But the list is ace!

sampling [Guardian]
When did sampling became so non-threatening?
Starting out as the working-class black answer to punk, sampling is now the stomping ground of white internet nerds
paparazzi photos as art form [Reuters]
LA gallery portrays paparazzi photos as art form
Paparazzi are getting a lot of bad press these days, so it takes some chutzpah to launch a photography exhibit called "Paparazzi as an Art Form" in the heart of celebrityville.

‘Til death did we party: the music business in the heady Nineties
Flying around the world on a diet of vodka and cocaine while being wildly overpaid does not make for well-adjusted people
