London – August 1975

Tonites’ first gig wasn’t exactly stellar.

We showed up late and only had time to play “He’s Frank” before the cops showed up and shut down the gig. Charlie Stains (our road manager) got in a brawl with a few locales, but when pressed he couldn’t remember what it was about. As a result of that, a brawl then ensued between Charlie and the band.

However, mid brawl, none of us could remember what we were fighting about either, so we all went for a drink instead.

For two decades the secret history of The BPA has been kept under wraps. But with the recent release of “We’re Gonna Need A Bigger, Boat”, further information continues to come to light.

Leading the charge is Dr. Randolph Seal, BPA historian, passive aggressive obsessive, garboligist, bus spotter, and amateur peeping tom. Seal has recently unearthed pages from Norman Cook’s journals that had been “thoughtlessly discarded as trash.”

Despite their poor and incomplete condition, these excerpts offer a rare insight into the evolution of The BPA.

“You have no idea the painstaking work involved here”, Seal assures us from an undisclosed location. “It’s not easy reading torn scraps of paper stained with coffee grinds, liquor, bodily fluids and cigarette burns, but with the will, a microscope and a lot of free time, it can be done.”

Fatboy Slim (aka Norman Cook) and friends got their paws on a classic wooden yacht, Cook's boat-loving tour manager, Jim McNulty, enticed his pal to renovate this magnificent sailboat and they've converted it it into a modern-minded stylish stay named the Barracuda. Currently based in Portisco Marina , near Olbia, Sardinia. I think we have the place for the first APC private party ;) Wanna come? :D Maybe I will play a special chill out set in one morning, hehehe… [via Cool Hunting ]

Londons own The Young Punx get the Norman Cook "seal of approval" & set to menace America with their top notch mash-ups & album release…

The Young Punx are an eccentric electro-eclectic collective of London-based electronic musicians, lead by the quirky multi-instrumentalist Hal Ritson. The band are now setting their sights Stateside and preparing to bring the sounds and visions by way of Ultra Records with a unique and diverse debut album.  Over the past few years the band has firmly established themselves as the new darlings of UK dance music, having been embraced by institutions such as BBC Radio 1, as well as being championed by avid supporters such as Pete Tong, Judge Jules and the one and only Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim – (who will no doubt be spinning  his pounding version of The Young Punx hit "You’ve Got To…" which he remixed for free, at Coachella this year!). This month alone, the lads have played shows in Shanghai, Moscow, Korea, Tokyo, UK, Germany and are about to venture to Australia for select dates.
