The Sound of Young New York was Plant Music‘s first compilation series (Mixed) that was launched in 2003 with Vol 1.

The Sound of Young New York compilations series represents a time and place in New York’s vibrant music scene. Compiled by Dominique Keegan, owner of Plant Music and then Plant Bar (RIP), The Sound of Young New York attempted to compile music from a variety of New York producers and artists that surfaced in the early to mid 2000s. Vol. I was voted compilation of the month by UK’s Jockey Slut (RIP) and Vol. III featured the first MSTRKRFT remix and the first Neurotic Drum band release. The compilations featured countless other acts that went on to greatness if they were not already there to begin with.
