Dragonette

With a growing army of admirers and fans all over the world, now is your chance to witness what all the fuss is about. Bouncing from the East to the West coasts and destined to wow audiences with their revivalist new wave synth-pop, Toronto-based quadruplet, Dragonette, are now embarking on a much welcomed four-date mini-tour this fall in the United States.

With the pending release of their refreshing debut album Galore (I Surrender Records through Red Distribution) out on October 28th, watch out for their dirty electronica beats and synths, trunk full of hooks, neon-doused live shows and downright naughty delivery and vocals by the bands star front woman Martina Sorbara.

The Bumblebeez – Prince Umberto The Sister Of Ill

The Bumblebeez- Rio [mp3 MediaFire]
The Bumblebeez- Black Dirt [mp3 MediaFire]

Hmmm, do we detect a legitimate scene brewing from downunder? What the heck is Australia playing at? Bombarding the universe with one amazing act after another and offering a full spectrum of musical goodness for us all to enjoy. It’s unnecessary to provide a list of all the talent currently hailing from this fine and vast country (if we have to, then shame on you!) as they should of course, already be under your radar by now.

However, there is one band that you really should take note of, and that’s the punked-out attention-deficit-approved ghetto-electro sounds of none other than the Brother and Sister collective, known as Bumblebeez, hailing from the small town of Braidwood and about to venture to the United States this fall!

Street Drum Corps Brings the Noise This Summer on Projekt Revolution Tour

Streetdrumcorps

From John Bonham to Clyde Stubblefield to ?uestlove, the drum has always been the backbone of any successful group. Hell, go further back in time, when drums were at the center of any tribal ritual. It’s carnal. Primeval. A good song hits you in the head. A good beat nails you in the stomach. So in an era of squeaky-clean, technologically-enhanced and polished production, Los Angeles’ Street Drum Corps (SDC) are more important than ever.

Kevin Lyman, founder of the Vans Warped Tour, summed SDC up perfectly when he called them a “punk rock Stomp.” Trash cans. Barrels. Buckets. It’s all fair game for brothers Bobby & Adam Alt and Frank Zummo, who furnish their live sets completely with used and found instruments.

The Black Ghosts: Repetition Kills You
new video, new album

Anthems like "Anyway You Choose To Give It" and "I Want Nothing" have dancefloor appeal-without the brickwall-limiting distortion-but move on to tracks like "It’s Your Touch" and the Doves-like "Full Moon" and you begin to get a sense of how well rounded this album really is. – URB

With the cold, steely riffs and floor-smashing beats of the much admired Theo Keating AKA Touché, ably augmented by erstwhile Simian vocalist Simon Lord, The Black Ghosts have gained an omnipresence on dancefloors the world over with the bangin’ tracks off their debut full-length "The Black Ghosts” out today, July 8, 2008 on IAMSOUND.

Hs2

A journey through the history of music told in their own unique way using 8 turntables and only using original 45rpm seven-inch singles

Presenting the final-ever performances of the show that has spanned the globe and wowed audiences worldwide! Following in the footsteps of their now-legendary "Brainfreeze" (1999) and "Product Placement" (2001) sets, DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist’s "The Hard Sell" is almost music history…just five shows remain, all back home in North America. Incorporating eight turntables, two guitar loop pedals, & only using original 45rpm seven-inch singles, "The Hard Sell" features tricks and complexity rarely attempted by a DJ duo.

Switches: Lay Down the Law

Switches: Lay Down the Law [mp3 Amazon]

After a successful nationwide tour with recent stops at some of the hottest SXSW showcases, Switches just released their debut album "Lay Down the Law" yesterday, March 18, 2008. As the Entertainment Weekly wrote, the Switches justify their cockiness with talent, excelling in the feisty hooks and high-pitched oo-oo-oos that hark back to the glam era at its best. If you’ve hoped for a missing link between T. Rex and the Killers (and hoped the balance would tilt toward the former), swaggering salvation is at hand.
